Doesn’t Christianity denigrate women?
Poem
In ages past, when time was but a seed,
Amidst creation’s dawn, a wondrous creed,
A sceptic’s whisper echoes through the air,
“Does Christianity women’s worth impair?”
Let us embark on a biblical quest,
To uncover the truth, and put doubts to rest,
For in the sacred text, we shall discern,
How God’s design respects women and does affirm.
In Eden’s garden, where life’s tale began,
God crafted Eve, a partner for the first man,
Not as a lesser being, weak and frail,
But as a complement, a vibrant sail.
Together they were made, in union blessed,
With equal worth, by divine request,
For both were fashioned in God’s own image,
Endowed with dignity, no lesser heritage.
In Proverbs’ wisdom, listen sceptics closely now,
A woman’s worth in every verse we bow,
Far more than rubies, her value exceeds,
A crown of grace, the world she truly leads.
Let’s journey further, through the ages grand,
And see the women who, by faith, did purposefully stand,
Deborah, a prophetess and judge supreme,
Led Israel forth with wisdom’s radiant gleam.
Esther, in her bravery, took her place,
Rescued her people, with courage and grace,
Ruth, the faithful gleaner, found agape love’s embrace,
Her loyalty and kindness, are a cherished trace.
Hannah’s fervent prayer, Samuel’s mother dear,
Her plea was answered, a prophet would appear,
And Mary, young and meek, yet filled with grace,
Bore the Son of God, for the human race to embrace.
In Jesus’ teachings, let us find our guide,
For He shattered the norms, empowering the tide,
He spoke with women, lifted them up high,
Honoured their voices, love’s truth amplified.
The woman at the well, her life transformed,
By living water, her spirit was warmed,
The woman with the issue of blood’s long plight,
Her touch of faith brought healing’s sacred light.
Martha and Mary, friends of Christ so true,
Both sought His presence, their faith renewed,
And Mary Magdalene was the first to behold,
The risen Savior, her story yet untold.
The early church, a haven of embrace,
Where women served, proclaiming the gospel’s grace,
Phoebe, a deacon, Priscilla, a guide,
Junia, an apostle, whose faith was magnified.
Thus, Christianity, far from degradation,
Uplifts and honours women in supreme veneration,
For Scripture reveals their stories renowned,
Foundations of faith, built on solid ground.
So, sceptics, let us ponder and explore,
The depths of truth, both ancient and core,
In God’s design, a symphony of human worth,
Where men and women find their sacred birth.
Let not misconceptions dim the divine,
For in Christ’s agape love, all barriers resign,
In unity, we stand, hand in hand,
Celebrating the beauty our God has planned.
So, let the doubters seek, with open hearts,
The truth that sets us free, a glorious art,
For in the tapestry of faith, we find,
Women’s worth, by God’s own grand design.
