Wooden Cross With Crown Of Thorns Hammer And Bloody Nails

Did Jesus die by crucifixion?

Jesus was crucified there is unanimous historical evidence. There are multiple Jewish references in the Talmud, letters, and Josephus who was writing for the Romans. There are gentile sources Tastas and Lucian who both attest that Jesus died by crucifixion. First-generation believers, Mathew, Mark, Luke, John and Peter. This is supported by the early church and secondary Christianity. There is no reference anywhere that Jesus survived the crucifixion because people knew what crucifixion entailed back in Roman times. The word crucifixion is where we get the word excruciating from.

The root word, cruciate, is a direct reference to crucem, meaning ‘the cross’. It is the same root that is used in “crucifixion” and it is the meaning of the “crucifix” or cross that many Christians wear. Thus, ‘excruciate’ can be literally translated to ‘the overwhelmingly intense pain of the cross. Flogging before crucifixion the usual instrument was a short whip with several single or braided leather thongs of variable lengths, in which small iron balls or sharp pieces of sheep bones were tied at intervals. This would weaken the individual by causing pain receptors to become acute while tearing flesh from the skin.

Some people actually died of the flogging before being crucified it was that bad. The whole body was flogged and the person was totally naked. Jesus was naked whilst hung on the cross to humiliate Him even more, there was no loincloth as we see portrayed today. The point of the flogging is the victim wouldn’t be able to kick and fight whilst being nailed to the cross.

Jews were not allowed to be flogged more than forty times according to Old Testament law, but Jesus was flogged way more. Jesus then was forced to carry the crossbeam to the point of the cross. Nine-inch nails were driven through his wrists, not the hands as we see often portrayed. The wrist area is the only place the body could be supported. The median nerve, colloquially known as the “eye of the hand,” is one of the three major nerves of the forearm and the hand is destroyed by the piercing of the nail. A nine-inch nail was then driven through his feet. The nail in the foot was designed so you could push up to breathe but in tremendous pain. Every time the flayed back of Jesus would scrape against the rough wood as He lifted himself up to take a painful breath.

If the Roman soldiers weren’t sure you were dead when not moving on the cross the soldiers could lose their job if Jesus hadn’t died or lost their life. The two other victims had their knees broken so they could not push up and breathe. Jesus had already given up His spirit so they pierced his heart with a spear. Other methods used were a hammer to the skull, setting the person on fire, and being drawn. This process was 100 per cent guaranteed to kill the person with spectators watching.

There is no account in the history of anybody surviving crucifixion as it was so brutal, and mastered perfectly by the soldiers who administered it. To argue that Jesus survived the cross is to argue against the evidence and facts. No one apart from Islam states that Jesus survived the crucifixion.

Scholars attest that Jesus died on the cross is the most accurate fact we can be most certain about. For Christianity to have spread cement the fact all across the earth still to this day. There were prophecies written in the Old Testament like Isaiah 53 and Psalm 22 written 700 and 1000 years before the crucifixion event. Historically speaking there is not one shred of evidence that Jesus survived the crucifixion.

The idea He wasn’t crucified was called the swoon hypothesis and was the aim to explain the resurrection of Jesus, proposing that Christ did not die on the cross, but merely fell unconscious (“swooned”), and was later revived in the tomb in the same mortal body.

There are several reasons why this theory is invalid and can be easily proven as false, and there were at least three different groups involved in Jesus’ crucifixion who were all 100 per cent satisfied concerning the fact of His death on the cross. They are the Roman soldiers and guards, Pontius Pilate, and the Sanhedrin. David Friedrich Strauss an atheist who influenced Christian Europe with his portrayal of the “historical Jesus”, whose divine nature he denied accepts the fact that Jesus was crucified. Jesus also convinced the disciples after His resurrection He was the risen Lord. They witnessed Him back in the flesh with the signs of His wrists pierced.

The risen Lord concludes that He had survived the crucifixion and ends the swoon theory. Was Jesus substituted for another on the cross?
Some think that Jesus was not killed or crucified it was Judas or maybe Simon who carried the cross a short way, and they got confused between the bloodied Jesus and the not bloodied Simon?

Many Muslims claim That Allah allowed for Jesus to survive on the cross, so now we have Jesus on the cross, and others claim it was a substitute with the face of Jesus?
Chapter 3:55 of the Quran says:

Sahih International: [Mention] when Allah said, “O Jesus, indeed I will take you and raise you to Myself and purify you from those who disbelieve and make those who follow you [in submission to Allah alone] superior to those who disbelieve until the Day of Resurrection. Then to Me is your return, and I will judge between you concerning that in which you used to differ.“

Jesus disciples would be superior until the day of resurrection preaching the risen Jesus as Allah tricked them which makes no sense. This would mean the Christian faith was started because Allah deceived the disciples.
Yet apparently Allah can’t lie?
Or perhaps Jesus explained to them that He didn’t die on the cross?
The Qur’an affirms that Allah revealed His word to previous prophets and messengers in the form Torah (Pentateuch), Zabur (Psalms) and Injeel (Gospels) and which was written down in the form of books. The Qur’an testifies to the truth and authenticity of all the previous Scriptures and claims that all these heavenly books are guidance, blessing and light to all the people of the world. All are to believe in these Scriptures. All these heavenly books were in existence when the Qur’an was revealed. Jews and Christians read them, studied them, taught them, they were exhorted to hold fast to them.
Do we either have an incompetent God or a deceptive Messiah?
Allah according to the Quran is responsible for Christianity, and if Christianity is the unforgivable sin called shirk, the sin of ascribing partners or associates to God. A Muslim believes that God is one, without partners, offspring, or associates.
He is the only one worthy of worship, then Allah is responsible for sending people to hell.
The Qur’an openly states many times that Allah is the ‘best deceiver.’ The Arabic word used here is “ماكر” “maakir”, coming from the root m-k-r م-ك-ر, with the word Makr “مكر” meaning deception.
Many Muslims then change the word deceiver to schemer which is toned down a bit from deceiver or even planner.

History is absolutely clear about Jesus death on the cross it’s water-tight.

This is brilliant. I have read many articles on this topic but this is by far the best. I always find it interesting that evidence and facts, even logic yet many seem to still doubt.

    Wow brilliant very well put!

  3. Abbas says:

As a Muslim this is well written.

Jesus, Mary, and the angel Gabriel are all prominent characters in the Qur’an (as are Adam, Noah, Abraham, Moses, and a bunch of other Bible characters).
For me I can’t argue with what you said.

A common accusation levelled by Muslims against Christians is the belief that the Holy Bible in our possession today, has been corrupted and no longer represents the original teachings of God’s messengers. The Quran affirms the Torah that was available at the time of Muhammad, and the Gospel in usage at that time. This destroys the Muslim contention that the Quran mentions the Gospel given to Jesus, not the gospels written about him, since the only Gospel in usage at the time of Muhammad were the same four-fold Gospel accounts contained within our modern-day New Testaments. Muhammad is commanded to defend both the Quran and the Torah of Moses that was available to him as a guidance from God. No mention of textual corruption whatsoever. Hence, Muhammad not only believes in the integrity of the Jewish Scripture, but respects it enough to place it on a cushion! This in effect proves that corruption refers to misinterpretation, not to textual tampering. I appreciate your comment on the crucifixion of Christ, as the evidence is 100 per cent to the event.
