Continuation once saved

God commands all people everywhere to repent. After repentance, believing in Christ is the very beginning of the Christian life. John the Baptist said this, the apostles, and Jesus. You can’t begin the Christian life without repentance.

There are four basic steps that believers have to take to get on the way which is repentance, believe, baptise, and receive, which mirrors the Bible. Repentance is essential to continue as the complete salvation in Christ is ongoing until we are with Him.

Repentance is (not) regret.

The older we get the more regrets we have. Regret is feeling sorry for what you have done to yourself. Humans make bad decisions in life, like gambling, smoking, drugs etc. Some individuals are only sorry for their wrongdoings as they have been found out. Repent of any distance between you and the Lord. Tell God of your desire to draw near to Him, and claim His promise to draw near to you. Prayerfully seek His cleansing of your hands and His purification of your heart.

Spend some time searching your heart with seriousness and humility before the Lord. Remorse is also not repentance, as it’s what you feel you have done to others.

Repentance is (always) about what you have done to God. Repentance has a heavenly stamp on it.

How many people admit to their parents that they have sinned against them and God?
Gods law of the kingdom you have broken firstly. Godly sorrow can lead to repentance, but repentance is different. Repentance requires thought, word and deed. Thought leads to conviction. Humanity usually compares itself to the standards of other people not the standard of God and His law.

We must feel we are a good person, but this is vastly different to bring a Godly person. Ask yourself does your standard reflect the standard of Christ?
If we compare ourselves to Jesus that’s when we begin to feel dirty.

Ask yourself if you got drunk did Jesus get drunk?
If you watch pornography did Jesus watch pornography?
Do you have or occasionally use dirty speech and jokes?

When we take a deeper look at our own shortcomings we can see indeed that we are dirty in comparison. We should all have a higher view of God and a lower view of ourselves.

Cohabitation between man and woman living together outside marriage is a sin, homosexuality is a sin. Sin goes a lot deeper as worry is also a sin.

People who worry over their pets or health care less about God.

If we are within Gods blessing our Heavenly Father will look after our wellbeing, but if we are outside His blessings then we are open to attacks by the Devil.

Laziness in the book of Proverbs is a major sin.

All hard work brings a profit, but mere talk leads only to poverty. Repentance is not a solo effort.

God doesn’t expect us to lift ourselves up by our own capabilities. Through His indwelling Spirit, God shapes and moulds the individual to make us pure and blameless in Christ.

Debt is another sin according to the scripture. Being in debt is classed as stealing, or withholding money that you owe. Having a mortgage on a house is not classed as debt. Debt is only a sin when you get behind on payments.

Repentance in (word) is the confession of sins.
Naming our wrongdoings to the Lord goes a long way in listing the offences out loud.

Many prayers are unanswered because of unconfessed sins to the Lord, as people are not filled with the spirit. We should not conform to the pattern of this world but be transformed by the renewing of our mind. Then we will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.

Repentance indeed is the correction of sin. Our lifestyles are a testimony to us which kind of tree we are. Our deeds speak volumes about who we really are. The path to faith in Jesus does not begin with good works.

The path to faith in Christ begins with repentance.

Secret sins also need to be dealt with by the godly standard we have just mentioned.

People need to be serious, as true repentance will always have fear of the Lord within it.
Being afraid of God makes you wise.

Sooner or later everybody will be accountable to God on judgment day. A healthy fear of the Lord goes a long way to put us right.
